Went to super dump to recycle batteries, monitors, motherboards and metal - came home with this

Dropped off old stuff yesterday and brought in a humongous tank for Biodiesel, then immediately went to the back of a favorite local restaurant (where I eat often). I blew a fuse on my $130 diesel pump pushing 700 pounds of rice oil into this tank last night, then unloaded the tank and oil, then packed 3/4 ton of concrete my truck the next day. This truck was made in 1984 when they still put tie downs on the outside of the bed...so useful as you can see. …See More

A new electric airplane took flight yesterday

A totally electric powered small airplane did a test flight on a runway much like the Wright brothers. The sleek yellow aircraft is shown in a video taxiing, then he takes off and gains about 30 feet, then descends and lands. This is the first test of what can be an affordable kit plane built on a popular chassis.http://www.wired.com/autopia/2010/12/new-diy-electric-airplane-takes-flight/See More

The Surprising Green Lining at 2017 NAIAS

For an EcoGeek, there were many surprises at the 2017 edition of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). We’ve been watching the emphasis on green cars decline for a number of years. Some of that is in the mainstreaming of more efficient vehicles, with increased fuel efficiency standards, greater numbers of hybrid vehicles, and […]

Flow Batteries for Household Power Storage

Residential power storage options are starting to get more competitive with a flow battery being introduced to the market in Australia. Flow batteries have been something we’ve looked at for grid-scale storage, and the research into the technology has been making advances. But it has been primarily a utility-scale technology. However, the technology has been […]

Hybrid Airship Being Readied for Flight

The “world’s largest aircraft,” the Airlander 10, is being readied for flights to begin later this year. The Airlander 10 is a massive hybrid aircraft that combines helium lift, aerodynamic lift, and direct thrust for flight. As we’ve noted before, we are big fans of airships (and even if there are tradeoffs in time and […]

Letters: Helicopter noise on the Plaza, government waste and electric cars
Kansas City Star
We live in the West Plaza area and have just about had it with helicopter tours at all hours on the weekend. It is extremely invasive, even inside the house. Today while sitting on my deck, I counted at least 13 noisy copters between 4 and 5 p.m. It is ...

China Electric Car Sales Dip In January With Incentives Transition, BYD Production Pause?
CleanTechnica
The Chinese market had 6,260 new EVs registered in January, far from the 15,275 units of January 2016, dragging down the plug-in market share (of new cars sold) to just 0.25% — far below the 1.45% of 2016. Considering the seasonality of the Chinese ...

How I went from BioDiesel to Vegetable Oil in my Mercedes!

Green Companies List

I would like to start a green companies list. Maybe a blog, but would rather a forum where we could all add to it.

Formatting would be standardized for comparison: name, location, green

features, and personal evaluation or rating or even reviews.

We have a chance to get a behind the scenes tour of our local recycling facility, we hope to get video of that.

There is a potential meeting with the VP of new Biodiesel refinery from

Oakland in the works. I would also add my… Continue

Our planet

We are the stewards of our planet. It is not our duty to rape our planet of it environmental riches but to preserve them for a future generation to marvel, behold and enjoy. Think about the things we purchase…

Earth Day #40

Today is the day. Personally I stretched up towards the sun, and bent down to the earth, experiencing the realization that I am part of the Earth, animated by the Sun.

The elements of stardust gathered by gravity into a ball and cooled to become rocks, showered with water from comets, thus becoming our Earth.

The sun showers our Earth with energy and breathes the water and the rocks to life.

That life eventually stands upon the surface and contemplates who and how and… Continue
